Loop and Lead is an original work in gold leaf on paper, 16 × 20 × 1 inches.

The lasso is the compositional spine: coiled in the cowboy's hand, its loops carry the same gold weight as the longhorn's horns curving outward to the right. The two forms rhyme across the black ground , rope and horn tracing the same patient arc , while the figure stands with his back to the viewer, wide-brimmed hat, rope in hand, bull at his side.

Whether this is the moment before the throw or after the catch is unresolvable, and that suspension is where the work lives. Control and animal force stand in temporary equilibrium, the lead not yet taut.

Rendered entirely in gold on black, the high-contrast linework gives every stroke the quality of something retrieved from darkness rather than drawn onto it.

One-of-a-kind original. Gold leaf on paper.
