About

I make work about a condition most people recognize but rarely see named: the tool is correct, and the world around it is not.

A sundial underwater is not broken. An hourglass in zero gravity is not defective. The sand is there. The mechanism is perfect. Gravity left. This is the image I return to, not as metaphor, but as physical fact rendered with complete precision.

Gold leaf is the only material I know that shares this condition. It requires an absolute decision at every point. It does not accommodate randomness, error camouflaged as style, or the absence of thought. In a market that rewards managed chaos, gold is a position.

Victor Selin is a gold-leaf artist working from Austin, Texas. His practice is built around Auruscript, an invented nonlexical script that functions as structure, texture, field, and content within gold-leaf works on black.

Selin works from a private studio at Art Hub ATX in Austin. His work is represented by Art for the People Gallery, Austin, and has been featured in Novum Artis, Voyage Austin, Bold Journey, Business Stories Magazine, and Shoutout DFW.
