Savings is an original work in 18k gold on paper, 16 × 20 × 1 inches.

A shopping cart holds a tumbleweed , the organic mass rendered in loose, radiating lines that resist the cart's rigid geometry without escaping it. Marks describing the tumbleweed expand outward in every direction, as if pressing against containment, while the cart's grid holds its form with the patience of infrastructure.

A tumbleweed is a dead plant that travels by releasing its hold on the ground. To cart one is to stop the drift, to assign it value and ownership and the logic of accumulation. The title names the act with a straight face. What has been saved is rootless, dry, and worth nothing , which means the gold surrounding it is either ironic or sincere, and the work refuses to decide.

High-contrast line work in 18k gold against a deep black ground gives the image the gravity of something illuminated rather than printed. A wry and singular object, luminous in its refusal to flatter what we choose to keep.

One-of-a-kind original. 18k gold on paper.
