Habeas Cursive

Available $2,000

This work sits between a typographic portrait and abstract calligraphy.
A western silhouette built entirely from handwritten rhythm, gesture, and pressure.

A new protective surface treatment was used here, developed to deepen contrast and enhance the natural brilliance of gold leaf without altering its character. The result is a sharper, more luminous surface that responds strongly to light and movement.

The title Habeas Cursive carries layered meaning, legal, bodily, and linguistic, pointing to presence, authorship, and the right to one’s own mark. What reads first as a cowgirl silhouette gradually reveals itself as text, then as structure, then as identity.
